Bridal Trousseau – What You Need

Sure, you take what you already own and move it into your new home. But you aren’t moving back to your parent’s place. You’re a new woman in a new relationship with a new destiny. You need to act the part!

Here’s the list of things you need to prepare:

A couple of white/beige/light pink/light blue outfits. After your wedding, you’re still the new bride, and so it’s a cute thing of culture to dress in light colors at any occasion after your wedding. Having a couple of light colored tops, maybe a blazer and a cute dress for semi-formal parties ready would be more than enough.

Anthropologie has a new “blanc” white collection you should check out.

A gold heel, a silver heel, a black heel and a nude heel haha As a new bride, you will probably be going out with your new partner more and you need to look fab while knowing you’ll have a shoe ready no matter what you wear. A recommendation from me, as you’ll be a new bride, instead of plain silver, buy a shoe that is completely studded. Instead of a plain black heel, get one that is made of shiny leather or has a little bit of embellishment on it. Don’t go for shoes that you could wear to a work dinner.

The silks, the reds and hot pinks, the lace and florals – when it comes to pajamas! This is your time to go all out, girly and sexy. Once you have kids later on, this will honestly be all over. If you are used to sweatpants and an old t-shirt from college, it might seem too much to wear silks and frills at first, but looking at yourself in the mirror and thinking that this is how you look when you get out of bed, well, it’s priceless.

One luxury bag, one super cute crossbody and a clutch for dates. The crossbody has to be cute because we are considering that you have a man beside you everywhere you go now lol It can be neutral, but not boring. You have to look a little dressy as a new bride.

Matching underwear. It may seem extra for some, but it’s actually really fun. It doesn’t have to be fancy as long as they are the same color/pattern. If you tend to wear a bra longer than underwear, consider grabbing 2 in the same underwear. Men don’t overly pay attention to detail, but they will notice that you’re matching and that means you put effort for them, truth be told.

Cute hair accessories. By cute, I mean butterfly-shaped clips, studded bobby pins, colorful XXL hair ties and embellished headbands. This is your special time, and you can turn a simple outfit into a cute one easily with a cute headband.

The best hair products! They don’t have to be expensive. You will need something to smear back the fly-away baby hairs and to replenish the dry ends in the morning and evening. You want to look good during the honey-moon period without a doubt and having products that work are a real life-saver.

A tinted lip product. Why? You want your partner to wake up to someone who isn’t looking pale and drooly (the fear is real). Tinted lip products or applying a little bit of lip creams that stain well are great. That’s what we want to go for. You can also apply a little to the cheeks before you go to bed or if you wake up in the morning before your partner does.

A perfume to consider your signature scent. I personally have 15 perfumes, but I purposely use one more than the rest so that people would recognize me without having to look at me haha.

Simple, elegant jewelry. I’ve been pushing you to go all out with hair accessories and shoes, but the jewelry has to be simple and match with everything. Grab a set of rings that go on all fingers, a few dainty necklaces in different metal colors, faux diamond earrings that can be your daily look and a matching bracelet. Matching sets make life easier but if everything is simple, you can easily mix-and-match.

Matching couple tees! You can either embroider your name and your partner’s name on pajamas, a t-shirt or a bracelet, as long as there is something special to the both of you that is obvious to others (aside from the obvious wedding bands). It makes your new stage in life even more fun.

A photograph of your favorite people. Are you into a hobby, a show, a sport, etc? Get an art print/photograph of that too, and place it on your nightstand, in your kitchen or anywhere to remind you to be true to yourself and what you’re into. Your new partner has to accept you and what you like from the very beginning.

A list of quick meals and maybe a binder with traditional recipes, ready to use. Ask your mom, grandma, neighbor, friend, etc. to help you prepare this (long) list because it helps a lot! An excellent idea is to have your friends write some down at your bachelorette party.

Everything mentioned above consists of essentials for a new bride only and not for a woman in general.

Did I miss anything on the list?
