Healthy habits that should be part of your daily life (13 points) Pt.1

Just to let you know, every point down below comes from professional advice I have attained. Let’s get straight into the list.

  1. Did you know that you aren’t doing enough for your gums and teeth if you brush twice a day and floss before bed? Of course genetics play a huge role on how prone your teeth are to cavities, but the most you can do is use BOTH water floss and regular floss before bed. There are also special kinds of toothpaste only your dentist can prescribe you to see an actual difference in oral health and teeth color. The drugstore ones don’t cut it.
  2. When eating, chew thoroughly before swallowing! I don’t know anyone who takes their time chewing like me, but make sure every veggie and rice piece in your mouth has been bit. It makes digestion easier on your body, and your body will thank you in the long-run.
  3. Use a smaller spoon when eating. Studies show that people eat 10-30% less overtime when their spoon is smaller.
  4. Wash your face a minimum of 3 times a day if you want healthy skin. I wash my face 5 times daily. Make sure to moisturize after every time.
  5. Ask your healthcare professional for vitamins you should take to better your gut, energy and overall health aside from the basic multivitamin. Every doctor will say something different on this topic based on their experience.
  6. Make sure you have plenty of light in your house by opening your curtains and blinds during daylight hours and to switch on the main lights in the house. There have also been studies to show that those with more light in their environment are less likely to get depressed.
  7. Open your windows during the day. I can’t stress enough the importance of fresh air and inhaling outdoor oxygen on your brain and body. We don’t realize how stuffy it is in a single room until we leave and come back.
  8. During sleep hours, if your bedroom is kind of small, leave the door open to get air from outside the room as to prevent it from getting stuffy overnight. Back in high school, when I started doing that, I found myself getting out of bed much easier.
  9. Give your eyes a break if you stare at a screen all day like I do. Stare out into the sky or at something far down the street for a few minutes. If your eyes physically feel tired, stare at something black in color for about 5 minutes. If not, close your eyes.
  10. Don’t shampoo your hair daily unless you get super sweaty or work in the fields. Water is excellent for hair (unless there is a good amount of salt in it if you live near the ocean or a lot of calcium if you live in the city), and it is shampoo that dries hair and causes split ends. Shampoo every 3 days if possible.
  11. If you deep clean your house, hold your breath while using bleach products. We do a deep clean about 2-4 times a month and we’ll be doing it all our life. This is more than enough to face negative effects from inhaling the chemicals. I know people who clip their nose shut before they clean haha
  12. Do you clean the door handles throughout your house during a deep clean? If no, then start doing that along with your phone!
  13. We tend to tense up a little and hold our breath while studying, watching a video or working on something important. We usually don’t notice this. Make sure to breathe!

How many of these do you already do?
