1″-2″ heels don’t really count as heels

If I said I plan on pairing my dress with heels, anyone would automatically think I meant something like stilettos.

Men’s dress shoes and even tennis shoes are elevated up to 2 inches these days, and well, men don’t consider themselves wearing heels. If you are used to flat shoes all your life and decide to be more feminine, it’s ok to call a 1″ rise a heel, but not for long.

Personally, I don’t consider myself wearing heels unless they’re a minimum of 3.5″. Seriously. I consider my heels really high when they are over 5″. The reason I think this way is because of comfort level.

Let’s talk about comfort level to be more fair. A flat-fronted, 4″ stiletto heel can be uncomfortable after 15 minutes of wear. A 3″ platform with a 6″ heel will get uncomfortable after 3 hours of wear. Reversing what I just said, a heel with a platform is comfortable for 3 hours. Why is it comfortable for so long? Because of the platform at the front. I personally buy comfortable heels so I can get away with femininity, style and comfort all at once. If you’re not a heel person, it just takes practice balancing in them if discomfort isn’t the issue, and you’ll master it much faster than riding a bike.

Be proud of an invention that is geared originally for women. I never understood the point of being asked “why do you wear high heels?”. It’s either the person is trying to indirectly call me short to boost their own confidence, or they don’t want to feel like they aren’t capable of wearing heels, and so they make heels seem like a strange phenomenon (I’m not afraid to pinpoint these things – I studied psychology hehe).

My answer is always, “because they’re pretty! You should try them”.

Are you a heel person? If so, how high do you usually wear to events and parties?
